Solo diners
Once every two months all those who live alone are invited to join a group of ‘Solo diners’ after the Sunday service at St Paul’s, and to visit a local inn or hotel for lunch. It is an opportunity for fellowship, to enjoy the company of others who generally eat on their own, and to sample the culinary delights offered within easy reach of Grange. Transport is provided, and those who cannot get to church on their own are picked up and taken back to their homes.
On Sunday, 12th January, 22 of us set off for lunch at Newby Bridge Hotel after the morning service at St Paul’s. The menu was varied and the food was displayed most attractively. Everyone enjoyed a well-cooked meal in very pleasant surroundings, and the fellowship with others living on their own. And, an added bonus, there was no washing up!
When we came out of the hotel we were treated to a wonderful view of Lake Windermere and a drive home in bright, winter sunshine.
