Mothering Sunday
A small group gathered in St Paul’s on the Saturday before Mothering Sunday to prepare the posies to be handed out the following day. Bags full of heather – white and purple – arrived, with rosemary, pittisporum, and different kinds of foliage, and two hours were spent making up over 100 posies, with three daffodils in each.
15 posies were sent up to the Fell Church for their service, and a number were set aside to be hand-delivered to our home communicants and anyone else who could not get to the service.
All were blessed during the service by the Ven Penny Driver, along with the simnel cake to be served later with the coffee. The posies were handed out to the members of the congregation during the final hymn.
