Christmas Tree Festival 2021
Over 30 trees were entered into this year’s Christmas Tree Festival, all decorated to the theme of ‘Believe there is good in the world’, which had been interpreted quite differently among the local organisations in the community.
Margaret Ratcliffe welcomed everyone to the event, and introduced local MP Tim Farron to open the Festival. He spoke directly to the primary school children about hope and the certainty of our Christian faith. The lights then were switched off, and the lights on the trees lit as we all sang ‘Away in a manger’.
The school choir then delighted those present with two songs, one with actions. A short interlude which allowed for refreshments – mulled wine, mince pies, etc – and then the Bay Community Choir assembled to sing a selection of Christmas music.
The evening closed with prayers by the Revd Jonathan Brewster, the newly appointed Associate Priest.
